Equipment at IAPMO IBT is intended to test materials and assemblies related to the construction industry. Refer to the "Laboratory Capabilities" section of the IAPMO IBT website. Please keep in mind that we are continuously enhancing our capabilities. Please give us a call.
IAPMO IBT is one of many laboratories listed and accredited by IAPMO R&T. One of the services provided by IAPMO IBT is conducting testing for product listing and listing compliance to be submitted to IAPMO R&T or IAPMO UES or any other Certification Agency.
Testing fees are separate from the product certification fee. Product certification is handled by IAPMO R&T and IAPMO UES. IAPMO IBT is a third-party independent testing laboratory which is a separate entity from IAPMO Research and Testing (R&T) and IAPMO UES.
The number of product samples is dependent on the applicable standard(s). Some standards require three (3) samples to be tested whereas other standards require six (6) or more samples.
Yes, the products can be tested at the manufacturer's facility with the presence of one of our staff to witness the test. However, all appropriate equipment must be calibrated, and documentation must be provided. Approval must first be obtained from the certification agency.
There are many sources of organizations who provide standards. One source is from IAPMO's Standards Department. The standards website is www.iapmostandards.org.
The manufacturer can apply to the IAPMO Standards department to create an IAPMO Guide Criteria to cover those specific products. If needed, IAPMO IBT provides a service to assist the manufacturer in preparing a proposed specification.
Some equipment, such as standard test equipment, can be purchased from companies specified in the standards. Other equipment is created specifically for testing building products. IAPMO IBT's machine shop builds this equipment.
